Ultimate List of Binge Worthy Series for all MILSOs During Deployment

Save to Pinterest!

Deployment is rough for dozens of reasons. However, there are a few pretty good perks to it that I try to stay focused on: “starfishing” the bed, ordering my favorite take-outs AND full control of the remote! No more fighting over the remote or bickering back and forth for 30 minutes then finally settling on Wheel of Fortune. After several deployments, I have compiled the ultimate binge worthy series list just right for those Friday nights in your PJs!

So put the kids to bed, grab a drink and some popcorn and check out my list of suggestions of binge-worthy shows to enjoy while your spouse is deployed!

The Office

Dunder-Mifflin Regional Manager, Michael Scott (Steve Carell) leads the documentary team and his staff on a journey through inappropriate behavior, well-intentioned but misguided comments and a myriad of poor management techniques. Seriously have this one on a loop during each deployment!

Parenthood

“Parenthood” is the critically acclaimed drama that follows the trials and tribulations of the very large, colorful and imperfect Braverman family. You will laugh, cry, and stay up way too late watching this fan favorite!

NCIS

A team of special agents, operating outside the military chain of command, must investigate any crime with pieces of evidence connected to Navy and Marine Corps personnel, regardless of rank or position. Some laughs, lots of action and some military sprinkled in makes for a good time!

FRIENDS

This is an oldie, but a goodie! “Friends” is a smart, sophisticated comedy that looks into the hearts and minds of a group of friends living in New York. You will be cheering them all on as they go through relationships, jobs and the Joey’s Special!

Grey’s Anatomy

Meredith Grey starts of the series as a first-year surgical intern at Seattle Grace Hospital. Together with her fellow residents-in-training, Meredith navigates her way through the daily traumas and social land mines of life inside the hospital and out in the real world. 15 seasons and going strong!

Blue Bloods

BLUE BLOODS is a drama about a multi-generational family of cops dedicated to New York City law enforcement. Plus Donny Wallburg and Tom Selleck star so…. 🙂

Gilmore Girls

If you haven’t seen this, you are missing out! Gilmore girls is the story of coffee-loving 32-year-old inn manager Lorelai Gilmore (Lauren Graham) and her bookworm 16-year-old daughter Rory (Alexis Bledel), living in the small town of Stars Hollow. You follow along their detailed family relationships, the ups and downs of work and life with distinctive quick-fire humor.

Madam Secretary

Tea Leoni stars as Elizabeth McCord, the shrewd, determined, newly appointed Secretary of State who drives international diplomacy, battles office politics and circumvents protocol as she negotiates global and domestic issues, both at the White House and at home. This one is hard to stop if you love political dramas staring a kick-butt female lead!

When Calls the Heart

Elizabeth Thatcher, a young teacher accustomed to her high society life, receives her first classroom post in a small town in the Western Frontier still recovering from a recent coal mining disaster that claimed the lives of most of the town’s miners. Oh man, that mountie and the love triangles will keep you coming back for more!

The Good Place

The show follows Eleanor Shellstrop, an ordinary woman who enters the afterlife, and thanks to some kind of error, is sent to the Good Place instead of the Bad Place, which is definitely where she belongs. While hiding in plain sight from Michael, the wise architect of the Good Place (who doesn’t know he’s made a mistake), she’s determined to shed her old way of living. Laugh-out-loud funny and definitely a binge worthy series!

Call the Midwife

I am currently watching this and it is addicting for sure! Call the Midwife is set in the 1950s and depicts insight into the colorful world of midwifery and family life in London’s East End. You will be introduced to the local community through the eyes of young nurse Jenny Lee as she lives and works as a midwife alongside the Nuns of the Order of St. Raymond of Nonnatus.

House of Cards

This is one I have yet to pick up, but is a fan favorite of almost everyone I speak to! “House of Cards” is a political drama series from Media Rights Capital that slithers behind the curtain of power, sex, ambition, love, greed and corruption in modern Washington D.C. An uncompromising exploration of power, ambition and the American way, the series orbits Francis Underwood (Spacey), the House Majority Whip. Underwood is the politician’s politician – masterful, beguiling, charismatic and ruthless. He and his equally ambitious wife Claire (Wright) stop at nothing to ensure their ascendancy.

Person of Interest

This crime action drama hooked me from the very first episode! Set in New York City, this procedural centers on an ex-CIA agent, presumed dead, who partners with a mysterious billionaire to prevent violent crimes. They later partner with a local law enforcement agent and continue to tae down the “bad guys”. I was so sad when this series ended.

New Girl

Funny, witty and unique, its another comedy about friendship, relationships and love, mixed with some of the best one-liners on the planet.

Modern Family

Today’s American families come in all shapes and sizes. Just ask these three families. One is a traditional family with a working dad, homemaker mom and their three kids; one is a gay couple who have just adopted an Asian baby and the third is an older man married to a much younger Latina woman. You will laugh until you cry!

Big Bang Theory

Leonard and Sheldon are brilliant physicists, the kind of “beautiful minds” that understand how the universe works. But none of that genius helps them interact with people, especially women.

Jane the Virgin

All the years of watching telenovelas with the two women who raised her – her sexy, young-at-heart mother, Xiomara (“Xo”), and her still – devout grandmother, Alba – have given Jane a slightly unrealistic view of romance. Although she is determined not to make the same mistake Xo made – becoming an unwed mother at 16 Jane could not be closer to the two wonderful women who have shaped her life. A story about family, motherhood and sticking together!

Parks and Recreation

From the creators of The Office….need I say more??

Dance Moms

Move over, pageant moms. Lifetime Television takes a fascinating look at the pressure-filled world of competitive dance’s youngest students, their doting mothers and demanding dance instructor in Dance Moms, an explosive new docu-series that raises the curtain on a fast-growing and controversial sport. Cat fights and, of course, AMAZING talent!

Downton Abbey

The series follows the lives of the Crawleys, the aristocratic family who lives in Downton Abbey, along with those that serve them. Downton revels in a world we’re not familiar with; a world where rich people aren’t jerks, and poor people serve them with gladness and gratitude; where chastity is not only a virtue but a public duty; where a woman’s integrity and a man’s honor are worth as much as a 5,000-acre plot of land. You will come back to this series over and over again!

Sherlock

Sherlock Holmes, an analytical deduction fanatic, is helping the police out with their enquiries for fun, when he runs into potential flatmate Dr John Watson, fresh from serving in the war in Afghanistan and sporting a limp. In spite of Watson’s initial scepticism, Holmes’ brilliant mind and dangerous lifestyle offer the stimulation he craves, and the two quickly forge an alliance. Sherlock provides the inspired leaps of intellect, while Watson keeps his friend’s flights of fancy grounded – it’s the perfect partnership. Uplifting, action-packed and highly entertaining, with sparky scripts and unforgettable performances by the two leads, this is Sherlock for a new generation.

Burn Notice

Michael Westen is a trained spy who receives a “burn notice” for an unstated reason & effectively is fired. Penniless, he returns to his hometown in Miami and freelances while trying to find who burned him. Some amazing acting (in my humble opinion), great action scenes and a little MacGyver vibe makes this an all-time favorite!

White Collar

White Collar is about the unlikely partnership between a con artist and an FBI agent who have been playing cat and mouse for years. Neal Caffrey (Matt Bomer) escapes from a maximum-security prison and is nabbed once again by Peter. Rather than returning to jail, Neal suggests an alternate plan: he’ll provide his criminal expertise to assist the Federal Agents in catching other elusive criminals. Witty and full of plot twists: perfect for a binge session.

This is Us

Not your typical family! This is Us is a smart, modern dramedy that will challenge your everyday presumptions about the people you think you know. You will laugh, cry and be grateful for all your blessings!

How I Met Your Mother

For 10 seasons, you get the full story – even when you thought it was simple! How I Met Your Mother is a comedy about Ted and how he fell in love.

Fixer Upper

Hope you love Shiplap! Chip and Joanna Gaines help homebuyers turn fixer uppers into showplaces. Wholesome family fun!

What series do YOU love to pass time with during deployment??
