Hello fellow MILSO! It is so good to have you here! Welcome to the 21 Days to Relaxation Challenge! We am so excited to share with you! After all self-care is so important!

Why is this so important??

Let us lay a scenario out for you. The alarm rings and you hit the snooze for the third time. Any minute the kids will be up, so you drag yourself out of bed. You stayed up way too late last night cleaning and finishing the report due for work, and then the baby was up several times with teething issues. You are exhausted and stressed, but you have no choice – you start your day.

Next comes breakfast, getting the kids ready for school, checking and rechecking backpacks, packing lunches and carpool. Add in calling to confirm the plumber, doctor appointments for physicals, preschool drop off, work, meetings, preschool pickups, and finally lunch. That’s just before noon! By the time it’s bedtime for the kiddos, you are even more exhausted, but there is still more to do.

After all, your spouse is gone once again.

The stress of military life has taken control of your lives. You tell yourself that you can handle anything; that it isn’t too long before you will get help again and once they get home, then you will take some time to yourself. However, you can feel yourself unraveling very slowly. You need a break and some time to breathe, but how can you possibly fit that into your hectic life?

    Noralee Jones is a MILSO of 12 years, mom of 4 and STRONG advocate for self-care. Having experiences with 7 deployments, 4 PCS move alone and the author of the Self-Care Guide for MILSOs, she is an expert on the importance of taking the time to focus on filling our bodies, minds and souls with our individual needs in order to make the most out of our lives. Because, as we all know, you can’t pour from an empty cup. Deployments are a huge factor on an empty cup. Heck, MILITARY LIFE can be a huge factor!
